In the summer of 1002 A.W., Nikki visited Stoneville to experience Playful Hearts Day. There she met Lulukko, an apprentice fairy and Pappetto, her Lumiwing companion from Dreamvale's Rainbow Valley.

Lulukko told Nikki that she got summoned to the village through the sincere wish of a local boy, Barnaby. When she tried to grant his wish, The Slumber Sheep - a creature powerful enough to cast a Snoring Spell and even turn creatures to stone - showed up, took Barnaby away into its Snoring Maze, turned Lulukko into a Beretsant, Pappetto into a stone-creature and damaged Lulukko's wand. The only way to defeat it is to fix the wand, find the Slumber Sheep in the heart of the maze and cast a banishing spell on it.

While they were preparing to enter the maze, Nikki learned about a popular children's fairytale book, Dreamvale Tales. One of the stories inside was about a fairy named Lulukko, a little prince and the Slumber Sheep. This made Nikki realize her new friends might have been fictional characters brought to life. She told Lulukko about her findings, and while Lulukko wasn't sure about what fairytales are, she confessed to not being an actual Apprentice Fairy and having very little magical talent. Nevertheless, they decided their most important task was to save Barnaby.

With Lulukko, Pappetto and Momo's help, Nikki navigated her way through the maze, banished the Slumber Sheep and brought Barnaby back to Stoneville safely. Afterwards, it was time for Lulukko and Pappetto to go back to their own world. As they were parting, Nikki's heartfelt blessing infused Lulukko's Fairy Wand with boundless magic and in upon arriving back to Dreamvale, she finally became the Fairy she always wanted to be.

In Nikki's world, the pages of Dreamvale Tales changed, now recounting the story of Lulukko, the legendary fairy and her pink-haired friend.
